Upgraded Lumbar Support Parts for Schukra Units

GruvenParts is happy to announce our fix for the Schukra 2016901 and 2016902 electric motor driven lumbar support mechanisms prevalent in many GM, Ford, Honda, Acura and many other makes utilizing the actuator shown with electric cable driven lumbar support mechanisms (not for pneumatic lumbar mechanisms). A growing list of Schukra part numbers these fit in is shown below.  Please note we dont have the dual cable wheels (yet).   

We have produced upgraded SOLID BRASS pinion gears as well as high strength polymer cable drive wheels for both the drivers and passenger front seat lumbar support mechanisms found on most GM (and other makes) from 2000-present with the Schukra 2016902 electric cable driven lumbar adjustment unit.  Check part numbers below and pictures on this page to verify fitment on your vehicle. 

The OEM Schukra lumbar support mechanism contains a plastic planetary gearing system which moves the lumbar support cushion within the seat.  The three small plastic pinion gears within the Schukra lumbar support mechanism usually shatter and render the unit useless.  The lumbar cable drive wheel also typically fails in this Schukra unit as well.  A replacement unit from GM is expensive and will also soon fail due to these weak parts.

Dont buy an expensive new OEM unit when you can FIX AND UPGRADE your existing Schukra 2016901 and 2016902 unit using high strength parts !

- Pinion gear kit only made from solid brass and contains (3) three brass pinion gears which mount to lumbar cable drive wheel.  Sold in sets of 3, enough to fix 1 lumbar unit.

- Lumbar drive wheel made from high strength polymer. Sold individually, enough to fix 1 lumbar unit.  

- Kit of 3 solid brass pinion gears and 1 high strength polymer lumbar drive wheel, enough to fix 1 lumbar unit

- 2 kits of 3 solid brass pinion gears and 1 high strength polymer lumbar drive wheel, enough to fix 2 lumbar units (1 complete seat) 

*** Save $ buying the kit sets ! Please note, there are normally 2 Schukra 2016902 lumbar drive units per seat so if you wanted to fix both, you would need 2 kits. Please verify your specific application needs prior to ordering. 

*** These parts will fit in any SCHUKRA P/N 2016902 and 2016801 electric cable driven lumbar unit regardless of the year/make/model of the vehicle.  They have likely used this electric lumbar support adjuster in many different vehicles, not just GM.  Schukra also probably has many other part numbers for their units using these same parts as well, we will continually add to this page as more info comes in.

Applications :

This brass pinion gear set and high strength polymer lumbar wheel replaces the 3 small plastic pinion gears and plastic lumbar wheel in the Schukra 2016902, 2016801 and GM lumbar unit P/N 19-12-71-56 (19127156), 88-94-02-95 (88940295), 88-97-83-50 (88978360), 22-83-30-14 (22833014) 2016902 as well as likely many others.  The Schukra P/N  is 2016902 and 5030024A (for Nissan) and Ram P/N 68196743AA (as well as many others) for the drivers and passenger side electric front seat power lumbar support assembly.  These parts are also common to Ford P/N AR3Z-6365500-B on the 2005-2014 Mustang.  This part number list will be continually updated as we learn of more lumbar support assemblies also using these Schukra parts.

The estimated models using this lumbar support assembly are all GM vehicles from 2000 to present, as well as many Ford vehicles including Mustang from 2005-2014 however we ask that you check your OEM part number and look at the pictures closely to see if your mechanism looks similar.  If it differs from that listed above or is a pneumatic rather than cable driven electric lumbar, contact us and we can research and confirm fitment as we build the part number cross reference matrix.

We're also working on the DIY for this, however once the lumbar unit is removed from the seat back, its a matter of removing a few screws to separate the case halves and then removing/replacing the 3 small plastic pinion gears with the upgraded solid brass gears as well as the lumbar drive wheel.
