(Please Note : The DIY is for 2008-2017 Ford Truck Towing Mirrors. The 2018+ uses the same gears/motors but the DIY tear down related to the plastics is different, proceed with that understanding if you own a 2018+ model)
LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL GEARS AND MOTORS !
GruvenParts.com is PROUD to release these SOLID BRASS gears, hardened steel center shafts, and high torque replacement motors for the Ford truck power folding TOW mirrors ! The helical cut brass gears exactly match the Ford plastic version and are MUCH STRONGER so they will not chip, strip, or break. The center shafts are machined in house from hardened steel to exactly match the OEM shape. And, our tried and true reliable high torque replacement motors have the factory correct wiring plug and come with a new motor-gear preinstalled as well - PLUG AND PLAY, READY TO DROP IN ! This is a GREAT WAY to save about $1300 per side, as Ford will not sell the gear or motor separately - instead, they make you buy an entire new power folding/telescoping mirror assembly (with more plastic gears and failure prone motors that will also soon break). Dont throw away your hard earned money!
FIX // STRENGTHEN // IMPROVE YOUR TOW MIRRORS AND SAVE THOUSANDS !!!
The replacement brass gears comes pre-attached to a newly machined hardened steel main shaft with gear already pressed on. We no longer offer the loose spur option.
PLEASE NOTE : When ordering, there is driver side and passenger side option, so please choose accordingly.
The replacement high torque motor comes with its own motor-gear already pressed on and is ready to drop in - it plugs right into the Ford wiring harness. This is a stronger more reliable motor !
You will need 2 motors and 2 gears to fix 1 Power Folding Mirror. You will need 2 power extend motors to fix power extend on both sides as well. Chose your options from the drop down menu when ordering and note the package pricing to save $$ !!
These gears and motors carry a LIFETIME WARRANTY !
Please Note : The brass gears will not replace the power telescoping gears. If you need assistance with power telescoping gears, please hit "Contact Us" and let us know about it, we can build those too if people want them ! We already do offer the power telescope motors, which are not the same as the power fold motors.
This product fits all F150/250/350/450/550/650 Ford Trucks with the TOWING power folding mirrors from 2008-Present. The following list of part numbers is in NO WAY complete, we will be adding to this frequently.

The repair went well. The new motors and gears worked great once I got the mirror apart. This is not something you will be able to tackle in a short amount of time. Be ready to have a few hours set aside to do the work.
I found the instructions provided a nice overview of the task but lacked critical details that make the process appear to be straight forward and simpler than it really is. First issue, I broke my convex mirror because I followed the instructions and just pulled on the mirror edge to remove it. This is a $70.00 mistake. The right way to remove the convex mirror is to use the same method of removal as the main mirror above it. Use your long-handled flat blade screwdriver and go in approximately at the same angle as the larger mirror. Second, there are additional plastic clips on the mirror body and the plastic mirror arms that are not mentioned in the instructions. Removing these is easier once you know what you’re looking for, but when you go in blind, it is difficult, and you run the risk of breaking the plastic clips. My suggestion, do your research, there are lots of forums where others have detailed how to take apart these mirrors.

Thanks for the honest feedback. I will look into the DIY instructions more. IF anyone wants to put together a detailed video, we would compensate. Contact me.

Nothing but great things to say about the product and the support. Excellent quality, take your time with the install and follow the directions clearly (don't remove the mirrors before you have to)... Paul provided excellent service to help me troubleshoot my mirrors as I had another wiring issue I discovered when I pulled the mirrors apart. Highly recommended - cannot go wrong with these!

I finally got the mirror apart and ruined the heater doing it. It looks like the housing plastic clip was broke and binding, not the motor nor stripped gears as commonly reported on the internet. That's how I came to find these parts, powerstroke forum.
It was a complete struggle to get the mirror apart, and the instructions aren't that great/complete. Really need an exploded diagram. Nothing in the Ford shop manual about taking it apart. There's several different variations of this mirror and not all the same. For instance mine did not have a "cover" piece.
When I got the new motor and drive shaft in, lubed, and cleaned up the rust the motor worked very good.
The parts that Gruven's sells work very good! But not my problem.
Not sure I'll be able to get the mirror back together and functional, as it's a poorly designed piece not intended to come apart, plastic is old and brittle. Plus now I have an added cost for mirror replacement.
I was fortunate to find a complete new mirror and it's much easier just to replace the whole thing.

Overall, the instructions and product were great. Installation would’ve been impossible without their great set of instructions. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the electric motors a a bit noisier than the stock motors. But other than that I’m super pumped to have my power fold option working again on my mirrors as Ford wanted me to bend over when I asked them what to do to fix the issue (damn near $1,300 a mirror!). I’ve already shared with all my other super duty owners as they all have the same issue. So glad to have a lifetime warranty and the ability to help out my fellow super duty owners that don’t want to bend over for Ford.

Thanks for the honest review, Kevin. Yes they can be a bit more noisy before they break in, they should quiet down over time but metal on metal is louder than metal on plastic. Its good that you dont have plastic gears though as they wont break anymore, and yes $1300 for another mirror assy is ridiculous considering its going to come with more plastic gears .. and we already know how that story ends.

The motors and gears for the mirrors on my 2013 F250 fit perfectly. As mentioned in other posts, there is much more noise in the operation of the mirrors (my wife stops talking when the mirrors are operating... :+)) but they work great and move much faster folding in and out than the OEM parts. I followed the online installation procedures and all worked out well. I will say, due to so many “little” parts, this repair is not for the faint of heart. The first mirror took about 6 hours. After gaining that knowledge, the 2nd one took 3 hours. Great product!!

What awesome parts! I bought the F-350 R & L mirror parts including the motors and gears. The parts arrived three days early, from GA to CA. The instructions below were complete, with decent pictures. Like Adrean mentioned, take your time and take lots of pictures. I tested the sub assemblies after each step, by plugging into the door connector and checking the motor operations. I just saved $1300 for the passenger mirror. I have the driver parts and when it fails, I’ll rebuild it.
Thank you Gruven.

Thanks Peter. Please help spread the word, its crazy people are going to the Ford dealer and spending $1300+ on new entire mirror assemblies when 99% can just be fixed replacing/upgrading the fold motors/gears and power extend motors. Take care and would love to see pics of the rig if you can send some.

These motor & gear sets fit flawlessly!
My mirror, in this case drivers side, fold and unfold much faster than the OEM equipped passenger side. I went with the brass gears and did notice that function is a bit louder than the OEM plastic gears but not objectionable so.

Well worth the effort to fit these aftermarket parts as it fixes a part you can’t buy from Ford and better quality. As with Ford you have to replace the whole mirror .
If I could make a suggestion only to have a you tube or manual to show how to pull apart and refit .
