GruvenParts is happy to announce another new product aimed at correcting a known issue. The air door actuator which controls the HVAC flaps within the dash on your Impala, Corvette, Gran Prix, Allure, Lacrosse, XLR, Monte Carlo, and likely many other GM models has a known weak point : a plastic gear which drives the flap actuator.
Once this small plastic gear chips, the blend door no longer functions, and you don't get proper HVAC ventilation. Up until now, you would need to buy another unit from GM and take the time to remove and replace it. All that time and money is a waste since you will be doing it again very soon, all due to the plastic gear in question.
GruvenParts has designed a replacement combo spur gear from solid gear brass. Its meant to replace the plastic combo spur gear which breaks within the unit.
Replace this gear with our solid gear brass gear to permanently fix the air door actuator once and for all !
This gear replaces the combo spur gear in GM part air door actuator part numbers 16-45-13-70 (16451370), 22-75-49-88 (22754988), 15-84-40-96 (15844096), 15-74122, and 604-108.
To replace this gear simply open the unit by bending the small plastic tabs that hold it shut outwards slightly. Once you have a small gap between the case halves, use a thin flat blade screwdriver to hold that gap open and work around the unit to release all the tabs. Note there are 2 tabs on the electrical plug connector opening. Once the unit is open, simply slide out the plastic chipped gear and replace with our solid gear brass version. The install takes a few minutes once the actuator is out and you wont need to do this job again !
