Dont replace your linkage arms with full Delrin plastic arms - they will break, and they are the reason you are on this page in the first place! Ours are made of high strength aircraft aluminum and use Delrin ONLY in the non-stressed socket region which is fully encased by aircraft aluminum to promote lubricity. Delrin by itself cannot handle the high engine heat without an aluminum casing and is NOT INTENDED to be used for the highly stressed main body of the part. Aircraft aluminum is many many times stronger and withstands much higher heat than Delrin. Do this job once and be done with it as many thousands have, including Audi and VW dealers.
Got a 4.2L V8 Audi or VW ? Then you had better check your intake manifold actuator arms (p/n 077-198-327A, 077198327A)! These engines have a variable intake manifold which is opened by 2 plastic linkage arms. Unfortunately, the OEM linkage arms are molded from cheap plastic and quickly snap during normal use.
Broken intake arms result in a sluggish engine which stumbles and looses power and fuel economy. To make matters worse, VW and Audi will only sell you an entire repair kit (p/n 077-198-327A, 077198327A) for over $400. And, each repair kit they sell only contains 1 short or long linkage arm. So if you have broken 2 linkage arms, you are out $800!

If you are buying these for an Audi, you will need to measure your OEM linkage arms and select the correct length from the drop down menu. These cars got EITHER 1” or 2.25” arms so you need to specify. The dimension is an estimate, from center of the ball to center of the ball on the arm. Use the product picture on this page to visually determine if your car has the long (2.25”) or short (1”) arms.

So after getting my check engine light diagnosed the mechanic told me that my intake arms seemed to be broken and that they couldnt find the intake manifold arms anywhere so i had to buy both kits, (btw, he didnt even know the name of the part) ... The quote was around $900 parts and labor. Lol
Well, me being the person i am, im not about to jus hand $900 over without doing some investigation myself... So after extensive searching i came across gruvenparts on youtube and sure enough, i saw those same little parts in action that were broken on my audi a8.. $75 both linkage arms!!!! He didnt seem too happy when i brought him the part and tried to convince me that it wasnt the right part LMAO i could have put em on myself but i wanted to see the look on his face for trying to pull one over on me lol

The Gruven part worked great. I had Simon Automotive install the
parts and the mechanic said both plastic arms were broken.
The VW dealer quoted me $600 - $700 for the repair. The Simon mechanic
told me the part was easy to install and the quality of the Gruven part was
great. Also, thank you for the quick delivery.

Gruven has certainly identified an inferior product suppied by VW on the Touareg. Not only did Gruven Identify this part, but instead of supplying this inferior plastic linkage as part along with complete assembly including motor for $400 to $500.00 like VW/, Gruven offer the cheap plastic linkage in durable metal which can be purchased as separate part from the motor. This is very very cost effective, and less labor intensive and make a lot of sense. This plastic linkage usually breaks. The customer is not help captive in purchasing the comple assembly just because this cheap plastic linkage breaks.

We have a Audi, Volkswagen repair shop in NJ and have purchased and installed these linkage arms about a dozen times! Awesome way to save our customers money and still know that we are installing a superior part! If you have broken intake manifold linkage arms, don't pay $1200 to fix them at the dealer, replace them with these arms and you will not regret the purchase! John and the JA Autowerks team!

Stop losing MPG and torque - Fix your intake TODAY

If your mechanic says: "oh you can drive without that working, you won't feel the difference" WRONG!! Not only are you losing MPG and paying for that at the pump, you are losing the power your engine was designed to deliver.
With a little more homework, Audi and some VW owners, will be happy to know that the the Hella part, the intake manifold actuator can be sourced from Lamborghini for $118 without the dogbones. Oh you can buy the dogbones for $21 from Lambo too, but don't - you want these Gruven dogbones. I only wish I had found Gruven years ago !!

I can't say enough good things about this. Not only does it save you the cost of your first born or several bodily appendages over Audi's so called rebuild kit. But it keeps you from having to dig through the blood stained carcasses of other 4.2 salvages risking tetanus to find replacements that are already broken or scavenged. I couldn't get those broken pieces of plastic out fast enough. Fairly easy install with the right tools. billet being factor is worth at least 5hp. Awesome product, excellent construction. If you break these your vac solenoids must be related to the Hulk and your actuator arms must be frozen in time. Thanks for a great product!

The link arms are great! my oem ones snapped as it seems they often do and gruven saved me an otherwise costly repair so all in all they are great a little hard to snap on the pivots maybe could be test fit first before sending to consumer I. Actually had to carve out about a 1/32" sliver of plastic grommet before it would snugly fit with the help of some channel locks but otherwise AWSOME and fast shipment too

Christian thanks for the review here, we have not had an issue like that. be advised that the pivot levers which these snap onto are cheaply molded plastic, if the ball on them has flash or imperfections then it can make it hard to snap the link onto it. The ball on the pivot lever can be cleaned up with a little bit of light sanding, then it should pop right on. FYI we do also sell the billet pivot levers, I believe Audi/VW requires your 1st born if you break their cheap plastic 1's so just be advised.
