This is the door lock actuator product page for the 2014+ newest GM vehicles. Please reference the applicable models below.
As many of you already know, the door lock actuators in your 2014+ GM vehicle are very unreliable. Most units suffer motor failures which can make locking and unlocking the vehicle very cumbersome. GruvenParts.com has been repairing the faulty GM door lock actuators since 2010. Our new motor is a reliable high torque design with factory correct wiring inputs. Our motor has passed rigorous 35,000 lock/unlock cycle testing runs conducted continuously over the span of 2 full weeks.
This motor is sold by itself and requires the re-use of the factory plastic worm gear. This worm gear can easily be removed from the old motor and placed onto our replacement motor. No bonding or press fit is required. Removal / installation of this motor is much easier than in the pre 2014 models. The actuators can be easily disassembled and the old motor can easily be lifted out of the unit. There is no drilling or tapping required on these 2014+ units.
There is absolutely NO reason to buy a complete GM unit to fix your door locks ! It is very easy to take apart these 2014+ actuators and replace the only discrepant part - the faulty motor. These units are assembled using simple torx screws and come apart very quickly to replace the motor.

Took on this project as my driver's door would not respond to power locks. Getting the actuator assembly out of the door was very challenging for me. There was a lot of learning with my hands rather than sight to understand the layout of the door guts. Once I got the maneuvering down it was easier. The GM lock actuator is bulky and L-shaped. Work it with a twisting motion to get out from behind window guide rail.
Once the actuator was out of the truck the motor replacement is a 10-minute job. Six or seven tiny torx screws hold the assembly together. I marked the clockwork with a marker to keep teeth aligned during reassembly. There's a corkscrew that slides off of original motor and slips onto the new motor. Piece of cake.
Thanks for this refreshing solution to a large problem. I anticipate the other three doors will fail with such a poor model history. I'll re-order this product when needed.

Ok thanks Ron. The unit is screwed together using a few torx screws so hopefully not difficult to remove those and separate the case halves then install the motor. As always you can contact us anytime for assistance.
Thanks,

Replacing this part was much harder than anticipated, but it was well worth the savings. I called local dealers and was quoted roughly $400 for the repair, but was able to do it myself for much less than that. This did indeed solve the issue, and repair the lock. Only time will tell if it holds up longer than the original. One note for installing, it is easy to replace the motor once you get the latch assembly out of the door, but getting it out was a pain, and putting it back in was equally challenging. Overall a great value and a good buy.

Thanks Trenton, I appreciate the honest review. I know getting to the actuator is tough. Once you have it in hand though, replacing the motor with our motor takes only a few minutes. We love saving customers $$, there is no point in buying a new unit from GM as the labor would be the same and it would cost hundreds more, as you suggested.
Thanks so much and let us know if we can do anything else!

Product works perfectly. So glad I didn’t waste over 100.00 on a new actuator when it was extremely easy to do myself.

I purchased two when the front door actuators stopped working. As long as you take your time the process is straight forward. There are YouTube videos to help also.

Thanks for the information about how to fix the Door Lock Actuator, and providing the motor. Much better / less expensive than just replacing it. It worked perfectly in my 2014 Silverado-actuator part# 13592289. I cant believe the dealer part only lasted 4 years. Hope this one lasts longer.

Once you get the actuator out it only takes an extra minute to switch out the motor vs installing a whole new actuator. Remove a few screws, pop out the old motor & drop in the new. That's it. It really is worth saving money & doing this motor swap. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Easy to replace if you have the ability. Check youtube for help. Be sure and clock the plastic gears properly when reassembling. The hardest part is getting the latching mechanism out of the door. But take your time and it will come out. Worked the first time, and is way less expensive than replacing the complete latch assembly. Highly recommended.

These are nice and easy if you are mechanically inclined to disassemble the door and the unit itself. The actuator on the 2014s is not easy to remove from the door. The window regulator needs to be loosened and the rear door channel removed. Be careful disassembling the actuator so everything goes back the same. Be sure to test everything before putting the door panel back. Shipping is high for one motor so you might get 4 and get the discount to cover the shipping. All in all these are well worth the money over paying for a new actuator.
